• 5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Getting a Dragon

It's not every day that you hear someone say they own a dragon, but for me, it's a reality. My Inland Bearded Dragon, Yogi, has stolen my heart and become a beloved member of my family. It all started when my daughter adopted her as a birthday gift for my son, but it wasn't long before Yogi became my responsibility for my pet.

Caring for a dragon is no easy feat. Yogi's breed requires specific care and attention, especially since she now resides in a completely different climate than her natural habitat. One of the most important aspects of caring for Yogi is keeping her room at the proper temperature. Dragons require a specific temperature range to thrive, and it's crucial to ensure that her environment is just right.

Lighting is another crucial factor in a dragon's health and wellbeing. Proper lighting is essential for their physical and mental health, and it's important to invest in quality lighting to ensure that they receive the right amount of UVB light to promote good bone health.

Feeding Yogi is also an adventure in itself. She primarily eats insects, and I have to make sure that the insects are properly gut-loaded and dusted with supplements to provide her with the necessary nutrients for good health. In addition to insects, Yogi also enjoys vegetables, fruits, and even some occasional treats like mealworms.

Caring for Yogi has brought me so much joy and has been a unique and rewarding experience. While it may seem unconventional to own a dragon, for me, it has been a worthwhile and fulfilling journey. If you're considering getting a dragon, be prepared for the challenges and responsibilities that come with it, but also know that the rewards of owning one are immeasurable
